HyLICON – hardware and software combined for a smarter industrial energy system

Within the HyLICON project, AMELA is working together with HyER Power on an integrated energy solution for industry. The objective is to connect hydrogen, heat and electricity more intelligently and thereby contribute to a more efficient, flexible and future-ready energy supply.

01 / System Design

From energy technology to system optimization

Within the project, HyER Power is further developing its hardware solution, in which hydrogen is converted into electricity and heat using fuel cell technology.

AMELA is further developing AmeLYZE as a software tool that uses available data to determine the optimal size and configuration of the HyER Power system within the customer's overall energy system.

This provides early insight into expected performance, energy demand and the integration of the solution. It supports better decision-making and helps design the system in a targeted and substantiated way that matches the customer's specific situation.

02 / Integration

Hardware and software as one energy system

The combination of physical energy technology and intelligent software is central to this collaboration. Rather than looking only at individual components, we consider the energy system as a whole.

With AmeLYZE, we are developing both decision-support functionality for the preparation phase and a digital twin of the energy system. This allows us to evaluate different scenarios in advance and determine optimal settings for the operational phase.

HyER Power can also use these insights to better align the required size and configuration of its system with the specific situation of each customer.

03 / Optimization

Making smarter use of available energy

We investigate how locally available energy can be used as efficiently as possible, how peak loads on the electricity grid can be reduced and how CO₂ emissions can be lowered. The software not only supports decision-making before implementation, but also helps monitor the performance of the integrated energy system during operation and adjust it where necessary.

04 / Validation

From development to industrial application

An important part of HyLICON is the transition from development to practical application. In a later project phase, the combined solution will be implemented and tested in an industrial environment. This allows us to jointly validate the physical energy technology and intelligent software under realistic conditions and further develop the solution towards scalable industrial deployment.
