Impala: insight into hydraulics and pressure surges for FFF foam

Hydraulic & Surge Analysis for Fluor Free Foam (FFF)

Impala logo

AMELA supported Impala in understanding the hydraulic behaviour of an FFF foam system — from steady flow to pressure transients.

The challenge

When applying Fluor Free Foam, a reliable understanding of hydraulic behaviour is essential. Besides regular pressure losses and flow rates, rapid changes in the system can cause pressure waves. This combination calls for an analysis that considers the entire system and the relevant operating conditions together.

Our approach

AMELA performed integral hydraulic analyses and investigated possible surge effects in the system. Through flow modelling and engineering automation, relevant system scenarios were calculated in a structured way. This translated technical knowledge into a traceable view of system behaviour and points of attention.

The value

The analyses provide a substantiated basis for assessing design and operational choices. This enables Impala to consider hydraulic risks and system effects early in the next phase of the project.
